The Great Council of Elgethorn

One day on Sporth they came and met
the Sons of Elgethorn and two guests
and they discussed the current situation
in the light of the planet's outer station
Mitras Goloross, the old Sporite king
spoke as his voice through the halls did ring...

"Many years earlier, when the Earth was first born
it was visited by glorious Elgethorn
there, our progenitor, the best warrior made
fell madly in love with a mortal human babe
or at least with her body, for she was soon pregnant
and Elgethorn fled for a planet less stagnant
but his bloodline remained on the planet in stasis
from biatch to ho-smack in that desert oasis...
it took thousands of years for the Spores to revive
passing from concubine to concubine
until the final descendant of Elgethorn's hottie
grew big in the belly and pregnant in body
She was shunned and reviled as she wandered the earth
for she claimed to be virgin and yet giving birth
after some time, the poor human whore
became mother to you, and your brother Felzacore...

Yet tainted he was by an unknown persence
Felzacore absorbed its corrupted essence
The Council judged him unfit for enlistment
but to take Midraspore was common sentiment
we left you, Felzacore, alone on the Earth
we knew not then your potential worth
we thought you were normal, like one of the mortals
and did not give you access to one of our portals...
instead we should have nurtured you
it could have been your mind that grew...

We watched as Midraspore's talents were honed
he practiced until he knew all that was known
at least all that there was that the earthlings could teach
of the warrior's way -- but he still could not reach
the fullest potential of his particular Reesh
he battled their sumos, the horribly bloated
he fought all their cyborgs until they exploded
all this he did was still very young
and across the Earth his praises were sung
we knew his full destiny would be realized
only if he ascended with us to the skies...

.....we gathered up our Reesh and opened then the Jeglidort
a stable rift in space that functions like a teleport....

...Midraspore agreed, we puffed some weed and left with nothing more
then all the cells that form our bodies and one Pscybine spore
we arrived at Sporth and began to train your quite amazing brother
Felzacore, do heed this true decree: his Sporite skill equals no other
it was much too easy to lose ourselves amidst his great success
and forget that you were still on Earth, an evil, wretched mess..."

Felzacore looked up, and his eyes flashed in rage
"But why did you leave me there, as if locked in a cage?
My brother was able to join his true race
while i had to struggle, scarring my face
living on Earth is a torturous hell
this i know, i know it quite well!
i had to find and keep a job
and live amongst the mortal slobs
who drool and fight and reproduce
not by spores, but by gonad juice!
No wonder i turned, and worshiped the Dark One
how else on that planet can you have any fun?"

Midraspore whispered in Felzacore's ear
"Why are you doing what you're doing here?
i thought you had come to make peace with our kinsme
so why are you raging, your skin turning crimson?
And you promised to tell them about those poor Dwarves
who are dead, but alive, down in Freakers' Core!"

"Hey, they knew when they made me their King, i'd abuse it
besides, if you saw what those things did for fun, you would lose it!"

Here the Council hummed in anger
offended by the shadowed stranger
And in Goloross's voice they sensed a danger....

"Let us not forget the matter at hand
Felzacore, you've darkened many lands
reduced the Earth to a poisoned heap
where pitiful primates and blood-mutants creep
furthermore, you are at best a half-breed
spawn of a bitch-egg and our savior's seed
no right you have to the good Sporite life
you who are stained by a lifetime of strife!
millions of planets and beings you've killed
with all your abominable magical skills!

Elgethorn's son -- and thus honored you are
but blood ties can only go only so far
so before we forgive you and bring you back home
you must go on a Quest, seek your fate all alone...

...therefore, Felzacore, go back to Earth
though ravaged it is, we may see a rebirth
if you and your magic can help that dammned land
we shall welcome you back with open hands..."

During the time that the Council had spoken
Felzacore'd sat back, relaxed, lightly smoking
but as he heard this, his calmness was broken
"Back to that shit hole?  Surely you're joking!"

Mitras exploded and soon he was screaming
"The whelp dares deny us?  The bastard is dreaming!
his life is now ours to arrange and dispose
he is at our mercy, this he must know!"

Over the din they heard Midraspore's voice
"You can't send my brother away without choice!
the Earth is a wasteland, teeming with plagues
infested by slug-men and poisonous hags!
To send him there now would mean surely his death
and his heart is my heart and his breath is my breath!"

"Midraspore, we at your words do rejoice
so we offer you this simple choice...
...go with your brother and help on his mission
bring hope to the humans, or at least nuclear fission
help your dark sibling his soul to redeem
and end his deep-souled evil dreams!"

Midraspore listened, his face stern yet glad
while Felzacore sputtered and fumed, steaming mad
the vein in his forehead pulsated and squirmed
and lay on his face like a blood-engorged worm
he brother expected a scream or a threat
the rage he knew well and was hard to forget
but Felzacore, no longer angry or riled
respectfull bowed and then left -- as he smiled.

The Sporite Solaria

Midraspore sat in the Spire, disheartened
this once-glad day had been so darkened
for sure he'd have his brother again
together they'd help him, heal Felzacore's pain...

...but he then felt a touch on his back from above
and knew that at once it was the one that he loved
the Sporite who's known by the name of Solaria
"Find a more beautiful babe in the cosmos, i dare ya...
i still can't believe she's Goloross's daughter
she is the hottest, there can't be a hotter
supple skin, perfect hair, tight and sexy underwear
big shining eyes that see more than i know
and light up her face with that awesome green glow
great skeletal structure, remarkable breasts
muscles and fat in the amounts that are best
the mind of a goddess, first in her class
with such a cute stomach, and damn, what an ass..."

He stared and was thinking -- panties or thong?
when Solaria asked him "Baby, what's wrong?
I know that your bro's to his neck in their shit
the big guy just banished him, isn't that it?

Solaria, that was the second thing caught in my head
the first, though, was you and some wine and a bed
for years, there on Freakers, lost in exile
i thought about you as i toked all the while
and now that i'm back, and we're back together
if i leave for Earth, i could lose you forever...

"...so i'll just go with you, to Earth, with your brother
because you are my one, baby, there can't be no other..."

"Solaria, that is... how do you do it?"

"Simple, your mind is a window and i can see through it."

"And your father and family, when you dare to tell..."

"...can suck on it, choke, burn forever in Hell."

"Solaria, baby, that's why i love you...
...hey, just take a look at the sky there above you!
just like it looked in the past, long ago
before all this bullshit we have now, you know?
remember, we'd see it as soon as we'd wake
on those days that we'd go and get blazed by the Lake
with all the other aspiring elgethorns
all of those guys we don't see anymore
Inderhide, Zaskatrin, Torameth, Shen...
if we could do now what we used to do then..."

"..but then we grew up, and got into The System..."

"Those days long ago, do you ever miss 'em?"

"Sure.. but... hey Midra, what the hell are we doin'?
Live in the Then and the Now you shall ruin
That's what we learned for the Eleventh Achievement
tomorrow's what matters and i still believe it!"

"That's so fucking right in just so many ways
we're gonna kick ass in the following days
i'd rather he hanging, i hae these damn Quests
but the days that seem darkest can still be the best
we're going away, but we still got each other
me and my girl, and my dark little brother
the earth better be ready, and hold on to its shit
'cause else they might lose it when we fucking hit!"

"Hey Midra, on Freakers, were you only joking
or was it really the father of all herb you were smoking?"

"Solaria, shit, if you'd only been there
you'd lose all your sense just by smelling the air
the Sages, i tell ya, those guys are the best
they sell what they need to and then keep the rest
despite what they tell you, those guys, they ain't dumb..."

"Well, next time you go, bitch, just bring me back some."

Back to Urth

Very soon after, the companions departed
their peaceful home planet, the journey had started
Goloross the King and the other Sporelords
gathered and helped form a new Jeglidort.

"You should save all your strength for the place you are going
the people of earth can be fould beyond knowing
Solaria, princess, be careful, okay?
in the wilds it's easy to just lose your way...
Midraspore, son, look after my baby
protect her from  savages, spiders and rabies...
Felzacore, wizard, i pray you succeed
keep your Reesh at its purest and you shall do this deed...
And all of you, though back to the Earth you are creepin'
you'll be back in no time and ready to deepen
remember -- you're Sporites, superior to all
of the foolish and lost who through the universe crawl!"

The travelers were wrapped in the Jeglidort's energy
their atoms combining in violent synergy
away then from Sporth, about light speed they flew
what lay ahead, this none of them knew.
They screamed past the spires and solar collectors
past all the reavers and grand resurrectors
past the frontier of the Great Sporite Ring
past all of the stars and the quasars that sing
passing by Saturn, passing by Mars
they fell to Earth as shooting stars
their flaming atmospheric wake
was observed in the sky as a nine-mile snake...

[ ...as seen on our monitors, the signal relay
was transferred and processed with little delay
commands were then issued, and measures enacted
ensuring that maximum action's exacted
upon any possible plausible threats
for we as the best must of course hedge our bets
and be ready for those who might try to destroy us
try to dissuade us, or try to annoy us...
we know what we are, and it know it seems strange
but we know that we die long before we can change
beings are comiong of which we've been told
warriors from a race that is stubborn and old
the Sporites, the masters, the dreamers of dreams
i wonder if i will hear one of them scream?
perhaps they won't talk, but they will make some noise
when i do what i do when i'm out with the boys.... ]

The wizard, the warrior, and the warrior's chick
landed in columns of smoke, rather thick.

Surveying the waste of the crater-filled landscape
we saw only radiated Apes who made their escape
and crawled back to their lairs and their dank filthy caves
that were filled with more dead than could fit in the graves
the rotting flesh piles and carrion sprawl
was scavenged by buzzards who flew and watched all
dark overhead were the acid rain clouds
which dumped their red drops on the corpses and shrouds
of the wasted humanity, now eaten by lizards
all brought about by my brother, the wizard...
Midraspore glanced at the horror around him
What if they knew who he was, and then found him?

Solaria stared as if gazing at hell
and asked "Did you do this with only one spell?
Such power is greater than ever i've heard
did you use just your mind, or an orb, or a word?"

"You know, i was so busy then that i can't quite recall
it's a thing that i learned how to do once, is all
now, my infinite-energy / Dwarven-flesh crunch
was actually.... actually, i've said far too much
your father forbids me to use the Dark Ways
i most only do good in these darkest of days
and why, dear Solaria, would you need to know
how exactly to make all the winds of death blow?"

Solaria turned as was ready to speak
when they stepped on the summit and saw past the Peak
out on the plains, near the horizon
a towering City from the ashes was rising
it glowed with the fires of millions of caves
and groaned with the groans of a million slaves
the radio waves that the Sporites detected
told of a danger they had not expected
something could see them, something unwanted
Solaria spoke and said "We're being hunted...
but there is a clue, for what it is worth
a sign by the road that reads..."

welcome to UrTh

"...and below, in small letters, not easy to read..."

Signed sincerely,
The Ridion League

Felzacore's restless left eye was soon flitting
across all he saw just from where he was sitting
he was still rather blitzed from the pills and the shrooms
that before today's journey he'd consumed in his room...

What the fuck am i doing here anyway, man?
returning to earth was not part of my plan
and i'm still a druggie who worships the Dehvuhl
my brother and her are on some other level
they listened in class to their senile old teachers
and went to the pep rallies and cheered in the bleachers
and thought as demanded or else not at all
and left school in the summer and went back in the fall...
....while i was outside in the streets all night long
smoking and drinking and doing things wrong
drawing sick shit on the restroom stall doors
enraging the hobos, tormenting the whores
sometimes these fires i lit in the dark
in garbage cans found in the shed near the Park
one night the flames had too much heat
they burned down the shed and moved into the street
twenty-two thousand new souls went that day
from the Urth to the Heavens, or so they did say...
...after that, the rage escaped on any given day
at work, this bloated bitch had twenty kids
who took their sodas and removed the lids
and dumped their goddamn Cokes on the floor
i kindly suggested that she curb her brood, this whore
but her response was quite rude, to put it politely
the Voice told my this insult must not be taken lightly
who do you work for, who do you serve, kid?
do you sweat, breathe, and bleed just for those who deserve it?
the strong eat the weak, our natures demand it
but should not, else face Hell, the ministers command it
i thought a second, and knowledge came, and i suddenly knew
a bit more of the truth about "this above all to thine own self be true...."

Launching myself in a torrent of hate
i leapt with my metal teeth aimed at her face
grabbing her bloated fat neck-sack i crushed
until bloody black vomit from her throat-hole gushed
the frightened animal crawled away, squealing
dripping blood on the floor, to the door she was feeling
her way, until my boots fell and crushed her hands
and the broomstick entered her hold and rearranged her inner glands
still the thing blundered, and crawled out to the cars
where her family in shock cried "Bertha!  My stars!"
i caught up to my prey, and lifted her high
the heavy corpse hit the windshield, and died
what they did with it after, i never did know
i was well on my way with places to go...
Damn!  I've been standing here, drooling and zoning, all blazed
that can't look good to.... what's her name, Midraspore's babe...
Ridion League?  That sounds retarded
but i guess this is how every empire started
a bunch of thugs gets with the pushers and pimps
and make lots of promises to the chumps and the chimps
and these humans are given to flow in a Herd
and kill if theiir king or their god gives the word
still, i'll pop all their heads like a pin though a bubble
if any stray assholes give her any trouble....

Still standing in a quiet, frozen, relaxed pose
Felzacore out of his trance exhaled and rose.

"Fellow travelers, heed me now, i have some current news
i'm afraid these beasts were not made only by my twisted ooze
in fact, i sense a dark, numbingly strong magic at play
Something created by this notorious Ridion League, i'd say..."

"Right you are, brother of mine, i noticed first the smell
it reeks of extraterrestrial plague, but one i know not well
perhaps we should make out way to the City in the distance
there may lie some clues as to the source of this putrid essence..."

The three agreed and made their way, but slowly was the walk
for Felzacore found it necessary to make a psyonic block
from all the mutagenic Khromes that floated through the air
they'd need every pure drop of life that wretched Urth could spare
Midraspore was quite amazed at the effectiveness of the shield
Felzacore chuckled to himself while distant ape-men squealed
the hairy creatures ran faster than the old humans ever could
but it mattered not -- the psyonic energy made them seem as wood
Felzacore would loose off globs from the surrounding psyonic dome
Midraspore -- "I remember having to battle those!  Sigh, i miss my home...."
and send them hurtling towards the panicked, screeching, frothing apes
they felt contact, with the Chi, and then they burst like grapes.

The group drew nearer to the City when the sound increased two-fold
the demonic howls from the place offended even Felzacore, the most bold...

"We are miles yet from the gruesome pit, and the noise is already intolerable
i say we stop right now -- and raze it -- for it is a thing completely incorrigible."

"You are right, brother, yes, it'd be good to destroy it
but the task you propose is something enormous...
although you wouldn't mention it had you not the means
so tell us now, how will you level those fiends?"

"Simple, i need just your spore and a a spore then from her
then i'll do the rest as you sit back and learn..."

Midraspore did so, but still was conflicted
unsure of the damage that sould be inflicted
where were the humans, the people he'd known?
is their entire existence now blasted and blown?
he sensed nothing worthy, just lower life forms
as he hovered and watched his brother perform...

As Felzacore grasped in his hands the two spores
their auras dripped down and were absorbed through his pores
his mind was set ablaze as their three Reeshes formed a Nought
and he then sensed the others' dreams, and hopes and fears and thoughts....

What they don't know is i can find
the keys to nearby peoples' minds
inside, my subjects cannot see me, though
because i'm hidden from their vision when i hit the flow...
my brother, his baby, their minds are so... nice
but.... i feel things in her that are colder than ice
i wonder if.... he started, but then halted in fear
for he sensed in Solaria a mind just as clear
her Reesh from the spore was extremely aware
and her mind matched Felzacore's mental stare...

So what are you waiting for, mighty dark mage?
you claimed to be able to show us some insane rage
instead you are spying, my dear kinsman Fel
what, surprised that a girl has the power as well?

Felzacore glanced backwards at her, surprised
not liking the things that he saw in her eyes
Midraspore watched, he looked on, not comprehending
unaware of the thoughts that the others were sending...

Felzacore shrugged, snorted, and then turned to his task
Ah, it's been so long since i could bask
in the flames of my hellfire Reesh
going beyond all bounds of decency, unlimited, unleashed....

The fire of the stars he gathered and placed inside
the spores, which glowed with reddish light
( as somewhere very far away, a few red giants died )
rising in the iar, sweeping back his silver hair
he flung them like a thunderbolt
like a meteorite from a catapult
the white-hot matter fell and splattered
in a mushroom cloud, the City shattered
the horrid screams still trapped inside
grew louder as the ape-men died
the shrieks of metal rending meat, the countless creatures being fried
were trapped inside a dome of heat that measured three leagues wide....

Ensuing shockwaves ripped the fields
as the three companions, inside their shield
braced for the impact and huddled together
against the hellish, fiery weather...

The heat soon died, and the winds subsided
and Felzacore his vanquished foes derided
"The Ridion League?  These fuckers are clowns!
They build up a house and a wolf blows it down!"

[ Go on, wizard, brag and boast, but that was just a small outpost
where the human apes converge... so what that it is toast?
I admire your powers, they do serve you well
but they cannot save you from Wruesinn Forell.... ]

Felzacore stopped, fell silent mid-laugh
and looked down to find that his throat had been slashed
he gurgled and gagged on the blood of his veins
drinking his lifeforce, writing in pain
in less than a second there appeared on his back
three more bloody gashes, more unseen attacks...

Midraspore, his Reesh attuned, focused outwards and sensed soon
the invisible threat, this bringer of doom....

"Whoever you are, back off from my brother!
I'll give you this warning, there won't be another..."

[ Ah, the Sporite bastard speaks at last!
you things are strong... but i am fast! ]

Wruesinn's blades cut with amazing precision
each strike could cause a tremendous incision
Midraspore raised his saber against the attacks
defied, deflected, reflected them back
while Felzacore struggled, and staggered about
losing his fluids in gushes and gouts...

"Now, unseen fiend, surrender or perish, keep your blades from those i cherish
My name is Midrapore, the Mushroom Knight, and i have never lost a fight!"

[ I see... you fight for those you love and those whose love you seek
my people know the secret, though, that this just makes you weak! ]

The invisible creature rushed by as a gale
leaving just wind and a particulate trail
Midraspore's eyes detected a flash
a blade, thown by Wruesinn at Solaria's ass
without even thinking, he deflected the strike
but was still caught off guard a bit more than he liked
before he could focus his hand and his mind
he looked straight down to sadly find
the double-sided assassin's blade
had in his guts, a passage made.

[ And now you see the basic flaw that separates us strong
from all you weakling losers of the ignoramus throng! ]

Midraspore, through shock of pain, his foe he could not see
but he heard the whistling slash as Wruesinn laughed in glee
.............but the deathblow never fell, the blade was halted in mid-air
while the camouflaged assassin on in shock and horror stared
at the gleaming, godlike figure that now raised a glowing hand
and made his metal weapon melt and splash upon the sand.

[ What are you?  Oh, never mind, it does not matter
i shall return with allies, and we shall your insides splatter! ]

Wruesinn made a teleport, a tiny, one-man Jeglidort
he leapt away, but in his wake, he heard the wizard say...
"You think you're going to get away while thinking you're the stronger?
No one touches Felzacore and lives for too much longer!"

The wizard followed Wruesinn in, but he was not alone
Forell had snatched Solaria before he'd journeyed home
Midraspore cried out in rage, and quickly tried to follow
but the space inside the Jeglidort was full, instead of hollow.

He dropped down to his knees in grief, and screamed, and roared, and howled
then shut his mouth and turned to see the silent stranger pull his cowl
from the glowing mask that lightly shone with bluish Sporite shrouded skin
"Hello," the metal specter siad, "my name, it is Chronorin..."

Chronorin

Somewhere in the deeper Space, where supernovae sing
the traveler made his careful way throughout the Outer Ring
he marveled at the beauty and the music of the Spheres
as he had so many countless time in all his thousand years
his soul and mind, so well refined by circuitry enmeshed
his consciousness was lightning held within the bonds of flesh
his body too, was mechanized, and every inch designed
to travel through the universe and all its secrets find....
Star formations, black hole suns, solar winds and gamma rays
inner space, darker matter, ten dimensions, ion sprays...
Every atom, every quark, and everything that most don't see
was his to keep forever in a flawless memory
"There may not be a god" he thought, "i shall not take that bet
but if there's not, i'll try to be the closest one can get..."

"For years, i journeyed through the stars to make my way back here
for certain things that i've observed have wakened in me fear...
i feared for them, i feared for me, and everything that breathes
for every man and animal and all the plants and leaves
Midraspore, as we now talk upon this ball of poisoned ground
there is at work a darker force than even you have found..."

"You mean the thing that just attacked and made off with my girl?
You mean this evil Ridion League, and others of their world?
But who are they, these brutal things, and how do they exist
undetected by the Council -- did even we these villains miss?"

"The League are dangerous creatures, yes, they all must be opposed
but behind their eyes i sense a doom that no one yet may know
for they, just like the rest of us, are agents unaware
who play their parts in greater plays than one alone might dare...
the Ridion League is a domino falling that pushes the rest a little bit more
you, the Council, Solaria... and then there's Felzacore
the seeds of actions multiply beyond what we intend
until they reach a stopping point, a catastrophic end..."

"But who, and what, and where are they, that's what i need to know!
I have to find my friends, Chronorin, wherever they did go..."

"Patience, friend, you'll see them yet, but before more cities burn
it would be good to study, and your target's nature learn
they come from very far away, they are not of your race
which is why they work with stealth and try to hide their face
Wruesinn is the one you faced, but he is but a pawn
just one of Four who came this way from galaxies beyond
these four were from their homeland stars forever rightly banished
they left for good, and for a time, i thought that they had vanished...
But apparently they've reappeared and formed this Ridion League
Wruesinn Forell, Narex Ortrari, Quinok Aargo, and... Oben Metravie....
Oben's the one that i cannot yet see clearly
he mind, it must be very strong, or at the least it merely...."

"Uh, Chronorin, i don't want to be interrupting
but i have this fatal wound, with blood erupting
from my slashed and ravaged belly...
...so i'd truly like to listen more to what you've got to tell me
but i think i'm gonna have to chill for..." here, he weakly sighed
fainted slowly to the ground, and quietly he died.

.  ..  ...     .....    ...  .. .

Hey, remember those legends that we had to learn
as we sat in the back of the class taking turns
on the miniature bong that we made out of wood?
i wouldn't forget them, if even i could...

Fuck yeah, me neither, they taught us forever, with never a breather
about the Sporite saints and sages, the first teachers
and to know and cherish Elgethorn... but fuck, he was dead long before i was born
who still believes that his birth was divine, that he came to the world to heal our minds?

Still, i could tell you each one of the words
from that same ancient story that we always heard...

Ages ago, before we evolved, before the orbit of Sporth was resolved
the single cell beings were first to arrive, those who don't die, but simply divide
later would come and continue to breed
the plants and the animals, those of the Seed...

...but somewhere in between, in the ancient Blessed Years
our people, the Sporites, evolved and appeared
unlike those previous, and unlike those after
the world was lit by our love and our laughter
unlike those who followed, unlike those before
we spread far and wide through the grace of the spores...

But in time, so say our annals
there came upon this plane the mammals
hairy things that multiplied, and killed and ate the flesh they fried
they filthed and fouled the Blessed Land we struggled so to make
and all the Sporites' wondrous lives were threatened and at stake...
...but then, from somewhere in the Funguslands, there came our valiant lord
the Psilocybin Savior beating back the apish horde
Elgethorn, the Mushroom Knight, who clad his spores and joined the fight
beating, burning, skinning foes, he drove them back into the night
he made the laws that govern all, he gave us wrong and right
and send the mammals to their planet to suffer in their blight...

But what became of Elgethorn?  The greatest warrior ever born?
Could you tell me that one?  After all, i am his son...

The final fate of Elgethorn is not within the Tomes
there's not been found a grave or cairn that might contain his bones
that's why they say that soon, someday he shall return
in a time of tribulation, and make the world pure
our savior, whose sacrifices saved us Sporites all
who did not die, but rather was called
by our god, the Great Shroom
back to the heavens, escaping his mortal doom....

But he wasn't alone, he went with another
his trusted lieutenant and younger brother
they were the two who were without sin
Our lord Elgethorn and his brother...
...Chronorin?
